To Our CMC Members

Effective February 28, 2009, The Colorado Mountain Club will end its long-standing relationship with the American Alpine Club Library. Unfortunately, this means that CMC members will no longer have library borrowing privileges as of that date. However, the AAC, CMC, and the Library want to ensure that CMC members who want to retain their library privileges are able to do so. For CMC members who are not already Friends of the Library and/or American Alpine Club members, we offer two options:

1. Take advantage of a one-time 50% discount ($25.00) on the minimum donation for Friends of the Library membership that is good for one full year. This offer is valid until May 31, 2009. Friends memberships that are purchased after May 31 will be offered at the regular minimum rate of $50.00 per year. Click on “Give Now” on the AAC homepage (https://americanalpineclub.org/donate) to become a Friends member, or to make an additional gift to the Library. If you’re taking advantage of the $25.00 offer, please indicate in the “Comments” section that you’re a CMC member.

2. There is a standing offer for CMC to receive a $20 first-year discount on a regular AAC membership (join at $55 instead of $75).  AAC members enjoy library borrowing privileges (including free outbound shipping), and a host of other benefits like the American Alpine Journal and Global Rescue service.  A full listing of member benefits can be found at: http://americanalpineclub.org/whyjoin. Get the discount by calling 303-384-0110 x35.

The AAC thanks the Colorado Mountain Club for our years of working together to make this the world’s leading mountaineering library. Please call the CMC main office at 303-279-3080 or email at cmcoffice@cmc.org for any questions regarding the change in this CMC member benefit.
