Thanks to the Golden Civic Foundation, the library’s digitization efforts just doubled. The GCF just presented the library with a gift to purchase a new computer, flatbed scanner, software, and an external hard drive to digitize the thousands of historic slides and photographs in the library’s collection.
For over 30 years, the GCF has raised money and given it away for the sole purpose of making Golden a better place to live. Since the staff and volunteers began digitizing the library’s photographic collections earlier this year, we’ve been overwhelmed by the community’s response to help with the effort. Having a second dig station with allow us to have two volunteers working on the project at any one time.
The library receives research requests from around the world for materials stored in the Rare Books Room and archives. We have been simply astonished by the the local community’s mobilization to make these unique resources available to an international audience. You can see what we’ve accomplished so far by visiting the library’s Flickr page.
Thank you, Golden Civic Foundation!
